Supports available for students affected by SunRidge residential fire

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Last night, a multi-house fire occurred in the SunRidge neighbourhood in west Lethbridge. This event has displaced some U of L students.  When the University learned that the fire affected students, officials identified and offered housing through Lethbridge Police Services. Thankfully, LPS informed the U of L that affected students had already received a place to stay for the night.  The University is reaching out directly to these students today via the ULSU executive and relevant campus departments are on standby to assist as required.

The University is making housing available to affected students.  Those students who have been displaced by the SunRidge fire should call Housing Services at 403-329-2584.  Academic advisors within Faculties are also available to discuss academic accommodations in support of those affected.

Incidents like this can be traumatic for those directly and indirectly affected. Support services are available on campus for those students and employees who may need assistance. Students are encouraged to access help through the Counselling Services office (http://www.uleth.ca/counselling), while faculty and staff have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program (http://www.uleth.ca/hr/pension-and-benefits/employee-and-family-assistan...).
