Enrolment Services is seeking two (2) highly motivated, energetic and passionate current University of Lethbridge undergraduate students to join our dynamic, creative, collaborative, and data driven team. From the moment of application to the end of first year, orientation and transition programming guides our newest students and their families from the point of acceptance until the end of their first year at uLethbridge.

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Orientation and Transition, you will be the face of our programming. You will be assigned a group of new students to mentor by email and in-person. You will be a role model and someone incoming students and their families look up to and trust. Your role is to share your experience: provide a current student perspective and connect them with the services, departments and opportunities they need.

Expected workload:

  • January – April | There is a mandatory training session on Saturday, January 11 (up to 8 hours). You respond to new student inquiries and provide support, direction, assistance and reassurance future uLethbridge students need.  You reply to emails and facilitate activities to engage and introduce new students to our campus and city. Additionally, you work 10 hours/month in the Enrolment Services office.
  • May – August 30 | New students continue to email questions and inquiries. You provide the support, direction, assistance and reassurance they need. This position is designed to be flexible enough to fit with your summer plans, regardless of job, travel, location etc. The expected workload is 2 – 4 hours per week. In addition, you participate in a major transition event in June (up to 8 hours).
  • August 31 – December 2 | You are back on campus by September 5 for training, first year Residence move in (September 7) and New Student Orientation (September 8 & 9). You respond to emails and facilitate activities to engage and introduce new students to the campus and city throughout their first semester. Additionally, you work 10 hours/month in the Enrolment Services office.
  • There is an expectation of involvement in other student-focused events throughout the year including spring and fall Open House and Convocation.

Supported by the Enrolment Services office, you will be provided with the necessary knowledge, resources, and training, including how to give campus tours. As a student mentor, you will gain valuable personal and professional skills including leadership, event planning and execution, time management, workshop development and so much more. You will meet new people, get involved and build community on campus.

If successful, you will be a member of the team from January 6 to December 2, 2020. You are required to take courses and be on Lethbridge campus during the spring and fall semesters.

Strong communication skills, written and verbal, a passion for customer service and a high level of professionalism are of the utmost importance. You work effectively as an individual and in a group. Occasionally, evening and weekend work is required. This position is open to undergraduate University of Lethbridge students in good academic standing, currently registered in a part-time or full-time course load. Students in Co-Op or practicum placements during either spring or fall semester may find scheduling a challenge, but are still welcome to apply.
