On behalf of the University of Lethbridge community, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Julie and all of the family and friends of Dr. Cor Van Raay (LLD ‘15).
Cor will be remembered as a generous philanthropist as well as one of southern Alberta’s most prominent agricultural entrepreneurs. At our University, he will be remembered as a builder of the institution and a champion of education in agricultural fields. In 2014, Cor donated $5 million to Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge to establish the Cor Van Raay Southern Alberta Agribusiness Program.
In 2015, the University of Lethbridge recognized Cor with an honorary degree for his contributions to southern Alberta agriculture as well as those made to his fellow citizens through charity and philanthropic efforts.
We will miss Cor’s passion for southern Alberta and the people who call Lethbridge and area home.

Note: An obituary can be found online at Martin Brothers. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 at St. Martha's Catholic Church located at 355 Columbia Blvd. W. The U of L will lower its flag that day in honour of Cor.
