How do I apply?
Log in to the awards portal via the Bridge. Click ‘Student’ then click ‘Apply for uLethbridge Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries’. Complete and submit the General and Undergraduate applications. Complete and submit any other ‘Recommended Opportunities’ that you are eligible to apply for. Applications must be submitted by the deadline indicated.
Jason Lang Scholarship (Alberta Scholarships Program) $1,000
Deadline: January 16, 2022
Brief Description: Issued via the Province of Alberta, you must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible) and an Alberta resident. Full-time enrollment is required (9.0 credit hours) in the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate program at the University of Lethbridge. A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.2 on a 4.0 point scale based on a minimum of 24.0 credit hours in the previous fall and spring terms is required.
Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership $1,000
Deadline: January 31, 2022
Brief Description: This award recognizes post-secondary students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and leadership to fellow students and to their community in government or clubs. Completion of a minimum 24.0 credit hours at the University of Lethbridge in the previous Fall and Spring semesters with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Selection by committee.
Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship (Alberta Scholarships Program) $2,000
Deadline: January 31, 2022
Brief Description: This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability, and/or initiative to improve the conditions and lives of others for undergraduate or graduate students. Recipients are selected by a committee.
Alexander Barnhill Bursary for International Students Up to $1,000
Deadline: February 1, 2022 and October 1, 2022
Brief Description: Entering or continuing undergraduate or graduate International, Refugee or Permanent Resident students who had previously been recognized as refugees by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees and had applied for resettlement in Canada through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). Preference will be given to students who have applied for resettlement in Canada through the World University Service of Canada. Financial need is required. Selection by committee.
John Gill Memorial Award $1,500 Minimum
Deadline: February 1, 2022
Brief Description: Third- or fourth-year students enrolled in any undergraduate degree program. Academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.00) and demonstrated leadership and involvement within the UofL community. Reference required. Successful students selected by committee.
Bill and Elsa Cade Student of the Year Award $1,000 Minimum
Deadline: February 1, 2022
Brief Description: Full-time students continuing in any undergraduate degree program. Exceptional leadership skills as demonstrated through community and campus involvement. Academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.00). Essay on the importance of community service and leadership and reference required. Successful student selected by committee.
Alberta Innovates Summer Research Award $6,000
Deadline February 1, 2022
Brief Description: Students in an undergraduate program who are enrolled in a summer research program. Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 at the time of application. A maximum of four (4) students per supervisor per year can apply for the Summer Research Award.
Chinook Summer Research Award $6,000
Deadline: February 1, 2022
Brief Description: Students continuing in an undergraduate program who are enrolled in a summer research program. Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 at the time of application.
