Scheduled Campus Emergency Power Outage

Please be advised that U of L Facilities' staff will be working on the emergency power grid from 9 p.m. on Friday, June 21 to 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 22.

There will be no emergency power on campus in the case of losing city power. Normal building power will not be affected in all buildings except University Hall where emergency power interruptions will occur while the work is being done.

Here's what is going to happen in University Hall:

  • Normal building power will remain on
  • There will be no ventilation for any of the labs in blocks C, D and E on levels 7 and 8
  • All fume hood exhaust fans will be off
  • There will be no emergency lighting or exit lighting. Temporary lighting will be provided in each of the five stairwells
  • Phones/data will be down. In the event that unexpected issues result in a sustained loss of emergency power, all systems/services delivered by ITS will be impacted and will remain unavailable until technicians can restore them
  • "B" block elevator will be off

Here’s what you have to do:

  • Please ensure all fume hood sashes are closed
  • Equipment (freezers/fridges) that are plugged into emergency power should be plugged into a normal power outlet.  If this is not possible, please ensure doors are kept closed
  • Please shut down any sensitive research equipment that is on emergency power
