Shovels are ready to turn sod on the Destination Project, and if the Provincial Government provides the necessary cash flow for the project in 2016-17 the University will officially begin construction of the new Science and Academic Building (SAB) in May 2016.
With this timeline, access to Parking Lot K will cease on May 1, 2016 in advance of the official sod turning ceremony and the start of construction. For those who will be affected by the closure of Parking Lot K, accommodations are being put in place:
• Those who currently hold Lot K parking permits and who have paid for their parking through payroll deduction, will be automatically transferred to Lot E. Lot K parking permits will be accepted in Lot E from May 1 to August 31, 2016. No further action is required on their part.
• Users who have purchased their Lot K permits through payroll deduction will also see their monthly deduction automatically adjusted beginning May 1 (over the ensuing four-month period users will save $55.32 or $27.66 depending on whether they have a full or part time permit).
• For those users who have purchased Lot K permits via credit card, cash or internal requisition, a reimbursement will be issued for the balance.
• New Lot E permits (including those permit holders moved from Lot K to Lot E) will be issued for 2016/17 in August, per usual practice.
• Any users wishing to relocate to an alternative lot must contact Judy Lacey (lacey@uleth.ca) at Parking Services to determine availability.
This is the most exciting construction project to take place on the University's campus since the completion of University Hall but it will come with some inconvenience to campus users during the construction period. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during the construction process. The end result, with the addition of this new science and academic building to the University, will be exciting and benefit the entire University community and southern Alberta.
