Now Accepting Expressions of Interest for Participation in Crossing Boundaries Symposium

The Faculty of Fine Arts is pleased to invite the University community to submit expressions of interest for participation in the annual Crossing Boundaries Symposium, to be held at the University of Lethbridge on October 26, 2019. 

The theme of this year’s symposium is Languages | Landscapes | Algorithms

What is Crossing Boundaries? 

The mission of Crossing Boundaries is threefold: 

  1. to share established and emerging innovators from the creative fields, with the community (campus & external) in a direct and engaging way; 

  2. to activate cultural discourse, educate, and enable open dialogue and collaboration on varying topics and perspectives across different disciplines; and 

  3. to showcase the diversity and interdisciplinary nature of the professional creative world. 

Submitting an Expression of Interest​ 

Guidelines for Submission

The Faculty of Fine Arts encourages faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students from across the University of Lethbridge, as well as community members at large to submit an expression of interest by February 25. Full proposal submissions are due March 15. The day will be broken up into different sections of presentations, exhibitions, and performances.   

Formats 

We encourage you to submit a proposal for the format that works best for you. Presentations, performances, and round-tables will have a maximum 30-minute time limit (including short Q&A). Below is a list of possible formats: 

  • Individual Presentation: one person presenting a topic related to the symposium theme, followed by a brief Q&A at the end of the presentation. 

  • Performance: a solo or group performance. You will be responsible for any materials and costs associated with your performance.

  • Exhibition: a solo or group exhibition proposal - please note if your proposal is accepted, your work will be shown with other proposals.  You will be responsible for any materials and costs associated with your exhibition works.

  • Round-table session: you will facilitate a discussion on a chosen topic. 

Expression of Interest Requirements 

  • Full Name 

  • Faculty and Department, Unit, or Affiliation 

  • Position (e.g. undergraduate student, graduate student, faculty member, visual artist, researcher)

  • Short one or two-line biography for the group or individual  

  • Indicate format you wish to choose for your proposal 

  • Short description of proposed activity/presentation (3 lines)
