EndNote X7 compatibility issues with macOS Sierra

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The Library has recently become aware of EndNote installation and use problems encountered by Mac users who are using or have upgraded to macOS Sierra.  For more details, see http://endnote.com/kb/140624 and http://community.thomsonreuters.com/t5/EndNote-General/EndNote-7-7-and-MacOS-Sierra/m-p/131332.  We therefore recommend that you postpone upgrading to macOS Sierra until after EndNote X8 is available.

The EndNote Knowledgebase posting (first link, above) states “We are not currently planning a fix to EndNote X7, but will continue to work with Apple to resolve these issues for X8. EndNote X8 should be fully macOS Sierra compatible.”  The Library will strive to make X8 available for download from the Library website as soon as possible after it is released, which according to Endnote will be sometime this month.

If you have questions or would like to discuss potential work-arounds while we await the arrival of X8, please e-mail endnote.library@uleth.ca.
