Dear Campus Community,
I am saddened to inform our campus community that a death has occurred within the Piikani House residence buildings.
I want to assure all members of our campus community that there is no risk to your safety.
Housing Services have been in contact with students living in Piikani House and Kainai House to inform them about available supports available to them.
We understand that this incident may bring about feelings of anxiety and grief for our broader community as well.
Counselling services are available to support our students, which can be accessed at ulethbridge.ca/counselling. Importantly, this webpage offers information about 24-hour counseling resources.
Eligible employees can access support through the University’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) managed by Homewood Health. Homewood Health may be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phoning 1-800-663-1142. All calls are completely confidential.
The University is committed to offering additional support to the broader university community throughout the upcoming week.
Once again, we are deeply sorry to bring you this distressing news. We encourage you to reach out to those who may be struggling or to seek support for yourself if needed during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Digvir Jayas, Ph.D.
President and Vice-Chancellor
