Condolence Notice - Hal Weaver

The University of Lethbridge expresses its deep condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of one of our founding members of the Department of Sociology, professor Hal Weaver, who passed away November 7, 2021 at the age of 92.

Born in San Diego, CA, Weaver earned a bachelor's in sociology from University of Hawaii before acquiring master's and PhD's in sociology from the University of Oregon. He came to the University of Lethbridge in the fall of 1969 and remained a member of the sociology department through to his retirement in 1985.

Weaver and his wife Barbara moved to Vancouver Island following his retirement from the U of L and lived there for the last 35-plus years.

The University will lower its flag in remembrance of Weaver on Monday, November 29, 2021.
