The University of Lethbridge expresses its deep condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and students of Dr. Claudia Sheedy, a research scientist at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Lethbridge Research and Development Centre, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the age of 45.

A great supporter of the University, Sheedy worked closely with the U of L's Co-operative Education program, hiring and mentoring a number of students over the years.

Born in Quebec City, Sheedy earned her BSc in biology and agronomy from the Université Laval. She later completed an MSc in immunochemistry and a PhD in antibody engineering from the University of Guelph. She came to Lethbridge in 2005 after having worked in Italy. Her main scientific interests consisted of water quality and trace residue analysis of agricultural contaminants including pesticides, veterinary antibiotics and hormones, and the development of pesticide mitigation strategies such as on-farm pesticide rinsate biobeds to protect water quality.
