The University of Lethbridge offers its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rosemary (Rose) Tworkowski, a caretaker in the Department of Facilities, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at St. Michael’s Health Centre.
Tworkowski had worked as a caretaker at ULethbridge since being hired in 2016 and is described as someone who came to work every day with a contagious smile on her face, her unique giggle, and often bearing treats to share with her co-workers.
“Rose was an employee we could all aspire to be like,” says Judy Jaeger, caretaking manager. “She was incredibly caring and always volunteered for the hard jobs. She loved a challenge and throughout our COVID-19 protocols, when we enhanced our cleaning and sanitization, she would spray the private spaces on campus and areas in housing.”
Jaeger says she gladly took both weekday and weekend shifts and never missed worked days.
“Rose will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her,” adds Jaeger. “You could see how special she was to our staff because when she was sick in hospital, she had so much support from so many of our employees, and especially Corinne, Joanne, Noreen, Yvette, Deb, Virginia, Mercy, and our retired staff member Stepheny, who all visited regularly.”
Rose was predeceased by her mother Laura, a bother and a sister. Cornerstone Funeral Home (2825 32 St S) will host a viewing Friday, September 2, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. The University will lower its flag on that day in her honour.
Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Park Meadows Church, 2011 15 Ave N.
For those who may need support during this difficult time, help is available through the Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
