Condolence Notice — R. Bruce Thurston (BASc (BA) ’78)

The University of Lethbridge extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, former colleagues and students of Bruce Thurston, who passed away on Dec. 23 at the age of 70.

Thurston was a well-known and highly regarded management professional who provided consulting and training to many leaders and organizations in southern Alberta as the CEO and president of Management Resource Services. At the Dhillon School of Business, he served as a Sessional Lecturer in 1995 and 2003, Lecturer from 2006 to 2007, Academic Assistant in 2007, and Instructor III from 2017 to 2021.

A CPA, Thurston was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award and recently received the Legacy Award from the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce. 

He was inducted into the ULethbridge Alumni Honour Society in 2012 and was named the 2017/2018 Volunteer of the Year by the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce. Thurston generously gave his time to local organizations, including the Chamber, the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery

A celebration of life has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre.

The University will lower its flags that day in honour of Thurston.
