The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and fellow Senate members of Isabel Jean Russell, who passed away Dec. 9 at the age of 75.
Russell, who was serving her second term as a ULethbridge Senator, resided in Crowsnest Pass, where she was an active community member. She was a high-school English teacher and was involved in numerous local organizations such as the Figure Skating Club, Ladies League Golf, Crowsnest Pass Rec Board, the Pass Curling Club and the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation. She was dedicated to preserving the history of the area and had a long involvement with the Crowsnest Pass Museum and Historical Society. An obituary is available online at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Blairmore. In honour of Russell, ULethbridge will lower its flags on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
