The University of Lethbridge expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dorothy McKenna, who passed away on Friday, April 22 at the age of 70.
McKenna was a sessional lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages from 1989 until 1993. She is survived by her husband, Ian, professor emeritus in the Faculty of Management, three children and four grandchildren.
In addition to teaching, McKenna applied her passion for women’s equality as executive director of the Womanspace Resource Centre for nearly 20 years. She tackled issues like poverty and financial literacy and won several awards for her work. A full obituary is available on the Martin Brothers website.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at McKillop United Church. The U of L will lower the flag on Friday in honour of McKenna.
