The University of Lethbridge expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dale Merchant, who passed away on Tuesday, May 10 at the age of 84.
Merchant's personal and professional life centred on service. For more than three decades, he worked for the provincial government in family and social services. He joined the Rotary Club of Lethbridge in 1965 and remained active in the club for the rest of his life. For his commitment to Rotary, he was recognized with the Bernie Carriere Rotary Legacy award. Merchant served on the ULethbridge Senate from 2007 to 2013. An obituary is available online at Martin Brothers.
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18 at 2 p.m. at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapel located at 610 4 St. S. The University will lower its flag that day in honour of Merchant.
