Condolence Notice — Chloe Galts

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Chloe Galts, who passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18 at the age of 73.

Chloe and her husband, Marvin, were chosen as this year’s honourees of the Management Scholarship Dinner, scheduled for Thursday, April 14. As southern Alberta entrepreneurs, the Galts demonstrated the kind of partnership that allowed them to excel at business and life and the University will honour their legacy with the establishment of a scholarship fund in their names.

Chloe, who was born in Lethbridge and raised in the Milk River area, started her first business—an in-home day care—when Marvin was a university student. She and Marvin were involved in several businesses over the years, one of them a company that eventually became Galko Homes. Chloe was also a self-taught home designer and interior decorator, and a role model to women in business. A full obituary is available online at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.

Vigil rites will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel and a memorial mass has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.

In honour of Chloe, the University will lower its flag on Wednesday.
