How do I apply?

Log in to the Bridge, click ‘Student’ then click ‘Apply for uLethbridge Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries’. Complete and submit the General Application. Complete and submit any ‘Recommended Opportunities’ that you are eligible to apply for. Applications must be submitted by the deadline indicated.

Please Note: students that have already submitted their General Application are strongly encouraged to review and ensure the information submitted is up to date.

University of Lethbridge Bursary $1,000

Deadline: September 15

Description: For entering or continuing undergraduate domestic students, enrolled full-time (min. 9.0 credit hours) in any Undergraduate degree program who illustrates financial need. Be sure the Financial Need information on your General Application is up-to-date and submitted by the deadline.

Indigenous Careers Award (Alberta Scholarship Program) $2,000 per term - $4,000 per year

Deadline: September 30

Description: Students must have aboriginal ancestry and be Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada and an Alberta resident. Students must be enrolled in a certificate, diploma, applied or bachelor’s degree program. You must be enrolled in the Fall and/or Spring term in order to be considered for this award. Students enrolled in both terms are eligible for $2,000 per term for a total of $4,000. Students enrolled in only the Fall or the Spring term are eligible for $2,000.

Criteria for continuing UofL undergraduate students:  You must have completed at least a combined 18 credits and have earned a minimum combined 2.0 GPA in the previous Fall and Spring semesters. Criteria for new transfer students: You must have transferred at least 18 credits and have at least 2.0 GPA for a transfer admission average. Criteria for new students entering from High School: You must have a final high school admission average of 65%.

Alexander Barnhill Bursary for International Students $1,000

Deadline: October 1

Description: Entering or continuing undergraduate or graduate International or Refugee students with demonstrated financial need. Students must be currently enrolled full-time in classes to be considered. Applicants must complete a statement outlining their need, and upload supporting documentation. Selection by committee.

Louise McKinney Scholarship (Alberta Scholarships Program) $2,500

Deadline: October 1

Description: Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible) and an Alberta resident. Full-time enrollment is required (9.0 credit hours) in the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate program at the University of Lethbridge. Completion of a minimum 24.0 credit hours in the previous fall/spring semesters with a minimum 3.50 GPA to be considered. Students can apply for both the Jason Lang and Louise McKinney scholarships, and are encouraged to do so. However, they will only be nominated for one or the other, if eligibility criteria are met.

Jason Lang Scholarship (Alberta Scholarships Program) $1,000

Deadline: October 15

Description: Issued via the Province of Alberta, you must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible) and an Alberta resident. Full-time enrollment is required (9.0 credit hours) in the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate program at the University of Lethbridge. A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.2 on a 4.0 point scale based on a minimum of 24.0 credit hours in the previous fall and spring terms is required. Students can apply for both the Jason Lang and Louise McKinney scholarships, and are encouraged to do so. However, they will only be nominated for one or the other, if eligibility criteria are met.

Métis Scholar Undergraduate Award $2,500 minimum

Deadline: October 31

Description: Full-time in any undergraduate degree program (minimum 9 credits per term). Canadian citizen, Métis heritage. Demonstrated financial need, minimum GPA of 2.30 in the immediate previous semester at UofL. Must provide valid proof of Métis heritage and a statement outlining your experience with Métis community. Students cannot also be receiving funding from Rupertsland Institute - Métis Training to Employment Services for the same course(s) of study; nor can students be a Registered or Treaty Indian under Canada's Indian Act.

Cor Van Raay Agility Award in Agriculture $1,500

Deadline: November 1

Description: Continuing full-time undergraduate students with involvement in agriculture or agribusiness or an interest in innovation and/or entrepreneurship related to agriculture or agribusiness. Minimum previous fall/spring GPA 3.0. Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Students must have demonstrated involvement in activities related to Agriculture (e.g. Junior Achievement, Canadian Youth Business Foundation, Community Futures, 4-H, self-initiated, family business, etc.) or submission of a proposal for a project or research in an entrepreneurial endeavor or innovative development in agriculture or agribusiness. Students must submit one page description of their involvement or a project/research proposal in innovation and/or entrepreneurship within agriculture or agribusiness. This award can only be received once. Selection by committee.
