The impact of COVID-19 on workplaces at the University of Lethbridge is rapidly evolving. University operations are continuing for the time being, but suspending University operations remains a possibility in the coming week.
In preparation for a possible suspension of University operations, employees have been seeking answers to a number of questions. More information will be available in the coming days.
How will I know if the University decides to suspend operations?
An official message will be issued by the President of the University.
Do I report to work if the University decides to suspend operations?
A small number of employees will be required to continue certain critical university operations on campus.
Most other employees may work from hometo continue university operations.
Other employees who are not required to work on campus and who cannot work from home, will not be required to report to work.
Faculty Supervisors/Managers/Deans will provide direction to employees about whether they need to come to work on campus, may work from home or will not be required to work, and about what work needs to continue.
Do I get paid if the University suspends operations?
All employees will be paid as usual if the University suspends operations. Hourly employees will be paid in keeping with regularly scheduled hours.
What happens when I come to work on campus?
Follow the instructions on how to adopt healthy habits and limit your interactions with others. You should speak with your Faculty Supervisor/Manager/Dean about your work.
What do I do if I get sick?
Do not come to campus.
Ensure you notify your Faculty Supervisor/Manager/Dean of your absence.
Complete the COVID-19 illness registry and follow all instructions on the University website.
Do I get paid if I become sick with COVID-19?
Medical leave provisions of Collective Agreements or employment manuals will apply as usual.
Will I know if someone I work with has been exposed to or has become ill from COVID-19?
The University will share information with employees to the extent allowable under privacy legislation.
Faculty Supervisors/Managers/Deans should discuss any such communications with a Senior Human Resources Consultant as each situation will be unique.
How will I know if the University decides to resume operations?
An official message will be issued by the President of the University.
