Records Management Fundamentals (2 hours)
- Thursday, June 14, 2018 - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In this course, participants will learn the records management basics necessary to fulfil their records management responsibilities, including how to identify University records, how long they need to be retained, and proper disposition methods. This course is appropriate for all staff and faculty.
Collecting & Managing FOIP Consent for Promotional Purposes (2 hours)
- Thursday, June 28 - 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Do you collect and use photos, videos, and other personal information in your communications? Do you also need to obtain consent? Do you know what to do with the consent forms you collect?
This course is offered jointly by the Privacy Office and Records Management, and is designed to help employees collect, use, and manage personal information for promotional and educational purposes in compliance with Alberta’s FOIP Act and the University’s records management policies. Participants will learn when and how to obtain consent to collect and use photos, videos, audio, and/or testimonials for educational or promotional purposes. They will also learn best practices for managing the consent forms and assets throughout their lifecycle.
Managing Physical Records (2 hours)
- Tuesday, July 10, 2018 - 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In this course, participants will acquire the tools necessary to establish an office recordkeeping system that supports the effective management of University records. Participants will learn how to dispose of University records in accordance with the Records Management policy, transfer records to the University Records Centre for storage, and send transitory records and student work to Records Management for shredding.
Prerequisite: Records Management Fundamentals
