Everyone is welcome to attend this exciting talk presented by the Physics & Astronomy Department Spring 2018 Speaker Series
Physics In Neuroscience
Lecture Abstract:
Neuroscience aims to understand how the brain works. Due to the complexity of neural dynamics, understanding brain functions can be facilitated by using a computational approach. Physics provides one of the major tools in computational neuroscience, and it has made big contributions to the study of neural information processing. In this talk, I will give an overview of basic neuroscience and several examples of how physics provides useful insights into memory representation in the brain. I will also discuss our recent information-theoretic study that aims at estimating neural interactions and detecting cell-assembly sequences.
