The University of Lethbridge has been in negotiations with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and remains committed to reaching a negotiated settlement with our AUPE employees that is fair to all our employees and considers the long-term sustainability of the University.
While we have reached an impasse with AUPE, with the next step being mediation, we continue to seek a mutually acceptable settlement. We remain open to continuing the conversation with the AUPE negotiating team and would prefer a negotiated settlement to one reached through other means.
We recognize that it is the people that make the U of L a great place for students and the community. As the University managed severe budget cuts in recent years, we publicly affirmed that “our people define our University and are our greatest strength”. We are committed to ensuring those who work hard every day in moving our University forward are treated fairly and that we position our University for continued success for many years to come.
