Game Development: Linda Griffiths and Canadian Plays in Development
In fall 2011, acclaimed Canadian playwright Linda Griffiths was a visiting artist in Gail Hanrahan’s Canadian Plays in Development course. The students worked on a new play by Griffiths, Games to Be Played with Caution, which took on a life and form of its own, a devised project called Game Over. After further rewriting, Games: Who Wants to Play? premiered in 2014 at Alberta Theatre Projects in Calgary. This research paper presentation will explore the development process at the U of L, and the final play in the context of Griffiths’ career.
