What is this notice about?
IT Services will be performing maintenance on the data network over the 2016 Christmas break that will affect network access as well as services.
When will this happen?
Planned maintenance activities will be happening during the following times:
• Wednesday, December 28th from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon)
• Thursday, December 29th from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon)
• Friday, December 30 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon).
Who will be affected and how?
While services will not be completely unavailable for the entire duration of these maintenance windows, there will be sporadic outages of 5 to 10 minutes in duration while individual network segments are upgraded. Affected services include:
• Inbound access to websites and other services delivered by the University
• Outbound access to the internet (e.g., Outlook email, web browsing)
• On-campus wireless networks
• On-campus telephone systems
• Core networking between the campus computers and University servers (e.g., web, files)
Note that all upgrades will not affect all services and every effort will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum.
Why is this happening?
These upgrades are being done to ensure the continued security and reliability of our campus network.
