The University of Lethbridge expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Larry Merkley, who passed away on May 22 at the age of 73 due to complications following a ruptured brain aneurysm.

Merkley began his employment with the U of L in 1981 as an assistant professor in the School of Management. He was promoted to associate professor in 1983 and then served as the University’s registrar beginning in 1988. Four years later, Merkley was appointed the associate vice-president of administration. In 1996, he returned to his duties as a management professor and retired in 2000. For the past several years, Merkley did consulting work.

An online obituary can be found on the Walker Sanderson website, a Utah-based funeral home. A memorial service is being planned for sometime this summer at the LDS Chapel in Waterton Lakes National Park.
