The World University Service of Canada club is hosting a film night for the screening of 'He Named Me Malala.' The movie tells the story of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. She was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded as she rode home on a school bus in Pakistan. The 15-year-old and her father were targeted because of their support of education for girls. She survived and is now a leading campaigner for girls' education around the world.
All funds raised at this event will go toward the club's student refugee program. A refugee student from Syria is expected to arrive in time for the start of classes in September.
