Early in the evening of March 15, 2016, staff from Sport & Recreation Services and Security Services responded to aid a member of the Lethbridge community who experienced a serious medical emergency during a fitness class at the University of Lethbridge. Lethbridge EMS were notified and quickly arrived to continue providing aid and to transport the individual to the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.

Unfortunately, the University was notified that the individual has since passed away. The University community extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the individual. We also extend our gratitude to the staff in Sport & Recreation Services, Security Services and members of the public who quickly provided aid until Lethbridge EMS arrived.

If there are members of our community that are feeling distress over this situation, please seek assistance through Counselling Services at 403-317-2845 or through the University of Lethbridge Employee and Family Assistance Program at 1-800-663-1142.
