The Truth and Reconciliation Action Committee is pleased to invite you to the inaugural discussion about reconciliation on the U of L campus. This will be the first discussion within an ongoing conversation to provide faculty, staff and students the foundation for action on what we can do to reconcile relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians.
Discussion #1:
Big Thinking – Starting the Reconciliation Conversation with Dr. Leroy Little Bear (3 p.m., Students' Union Ballroom)
With opening comments by President Dr. Mike Mahon, Dr. Leroy Little Bear (BASc (BA) ’72, LLD ’04) will discuss the historic intersection between the Age of Reason and Aboriginal Ways of Knowing — pointing to key questions that will cause us to ponder the creation of the modern day university and whether this model is the best perspective for teaching, learning and research.
Dr. Little Bear participated as a key speaker in the recent Building Reconciliation Conference for university presidents at the University of Saskatchewan and he has been invited this year to Congress 2016 of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Calgary. His talk at the University of Lethbridge will mirror his message to these groups.
