Small fire extinguished in residence building

Earlier today, at 11:27 a.m., a small fire occurred in the Mt. Blakiston House residence building at the University of Lethbridge. The fire caused a significant amount of smoke and the smoke alarm was activated. Security personnel evacuated the building shortly before Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services arrived on scene. On arrival, firefighters used fans to disperse the smoke. Students returned to the residence a half-hour after the smoke alarm was activated. No injuries were reported as part of this incident.

An investigation is continuing in consultation with Housing, Lethbridge Fire and Campus Safety.
