ARE YOU THE ONE?

You could be a hero and save a life that no one else can.  75% of people who need a stem cell transplant can’t find a match in their own family – that’s why there’s OneMatch.  Canada’s stem cell and marrow network.

GET SWABBED!

10:00-2:00

University of Lethbridge, Atrium

Canadian Blood Services is currently searching for unrelated donors for over 800 patients – patients who could not find a match within their own family. These patients include people suffering from life-threatening illnesses such as leukemia, aplastic anemia and various immune disorders. Their best chance of finding a match are within their own ethnic group but 70 per cent of the people on our Network have identified themselves as “Caucasian”.

In order to meet the needs of all patients it is imperative that Canadian Blood Services not only increase the number of new registrants to the Network but attract more ethnically diverse donors, younger donors (17-35) with a preference for males.

Registrant Eligibility

In order to be eligible at enrolment, each potential registrant must be:

·     between the ages of 17 to 35

·     in good general health and meet the criteria outlined in the Canadian Blood Services Medical Conditions Chart

·     familiar with the donation process, having read and understood the content of the material provided at the time of registration

·     willing to provide a sample for HLA typing

·     willing to donate to any patient in need
