The University of Lethbridge Department of Geography & Environment was well represented at the 64th Annual Meeting of the Western Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers in Abbotsford BC on March 10 and 11, 2023. This year's theme was "Planning for Resilience and Climate Change," though presentations and posters covered a range of topics. Eleven U of L students (six undergraduate and five graduate) shared their work and networked with students and faculty from universities across BC and Alberta. Three of the students took home awards: Nick Noad (Best Presentation, PhD: "Elevational air temperature patterns and implications for permafrost in Northcentral Yukon, Canada"), Roya Mousavi (Best Poster, PhD: "Historical Analysis of Drought in the South Saskatchewan Watershed Based on Gridded SPI and SPEI"), and Rabecca Thiessen (Best Poster, Masters: "Cataloguing of rock glaciers in dissimilar regions of the Mackenzie Mountains: Testing for possible semi-automated detection of rock glaciers using topographic data"). Congratulations to all students who shared their work at WDCAG 2023!
