Condolence Notice — Professor Emeritus Dr. Keith Gordon McCurdy

The University of Lethbridge extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of Dr. Keith McCurdy, who passed away on Friday, June 18 at the age of 83.

McCurdy was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan in 1937. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a BA and MA. He later completed a PhD at the University of Ottawa. A few years after he joined the chemistry department at the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, McCurdy became a founding faculty member in the U of L’s then Department of Chemistry in 1967. That was the start of a 30-year career at the U of L. His tenure at the University included administrative positions as the head of the chemistry department, acting dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and dean of student affairs. McCurdy retired in 1997. An obituary can be found at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

At his request, no funeral service will be held. In honour of McCurdy, the U of L will lower its flag on Monday, July 5.
