In recognition of Pride Month

Equity, diversity and inclusion begins with each and every one of us — within all our personal and professional relationships — each and every day.

Today, the University of Lethbridge kicks off its celebration of Pride Month, and as we raise the Pride Flag and bring conversations on inclusivity into the forefront, it’s important to remember this isn’t about one day, one month or even one year. The focus must be on creating a society where acceptance of diversity is the norm and the 2SLGBTQ+ community lives without persecution and discrimination.

The University of Lethbridge plays a major role in changing attitudes and shifting our culture. We educate, we broaden perspectives, we strive to create a safe campus space where equity, diversity and inclusion are embraced. More than that, we inspire generations of students to speak out against injustice towards marginalized groups, their actions and their message growing organically throughout society as the changemakers of tomorrow.

We have much work to do and with each day, each student, each graduating class, we are moving forward, taking positive steps as leaders in our community and our world.

Please take time this day, this month, and then every day beyond, to think about your relationships and the example you are setting as we build this world together. Let us celebrate the steps forward we have achieved and bring added focus to what we can do next to create a society that is truly just and accepting of all.
