Professor KURT KLEIN will be our first presenter in our "Economics in the Real World Series":

Dr. Klein's talk is entitled "WORLD POPULATION GROWTH & FOOD SECURITY:  THE IMPORTANCE OF INCREASING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE"

=================================================================================================

The World's population reached 3 billion the year before I graduated from high school.  Now it is about 7.5 billion and will grow by another 2 billion during the working lives of those in high school and university today.  The world has no more agricultural land and not much more fresh water for irrigation.  Furthermore, most of the increase in population will be in countries that already are in food deficit regions.  Today's students will have to help find ways to increase agricultural productivity and international trade to feed the burgeoning population.
