Next Tuesday, October 20 Alberta Sport Development Centre - SouthWest and the U of L's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education are presenting a Winning Edge Seminar, featuring Dr. Sharleen Hoar. Dr. Hoar has been supporting elite and aspiring performers of all ages to achieve personal and performance excellence since 1996. She is a member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and is a Mental Performance Consultant with the Canadian Sport Institute (Pacific) and National Coaching Institute (Victoria). She is the Sport Science and Sport Medical Lead for Triathlon Canada. Dr. Hoar is an Adjunct Professor with the University of Lethbridge and actively publishes her research on self-regulation and emotion management for sport performance! The list of achievements and experiences can go on, and the ASDC SW is excited to have her talk to athletes, coaches, and parents. Everyone is welcome to come! The Winning Edge Seminar is called, Growth Mindset: Unlocking the Pathway to Success! Recent research shows that adopting a growth mindset leads to a healthier attitude toward practice and learning, hunger for feedback, a better ability to deal with setbacks, and significantly better performance over time.
