“The province is experiencing rapid population growth along with increasing urbanization, industrial development, and increasing demands for water to meet growing agricultural, energy, and municipal requirements. Coupled with the increasing and often conflicting demands for water is a fluctuating and often unpredictable water supply due to the increasing impacts of climate change. The work I do focuses on helping meet Alberta’s Water for Life goals of having safe & secure drinking water, healthy aquatic ecosystems and reliable quality water supplies for a sustainable economy. We work to help develop critical knowledge and information about water resources in the province, and to find the best water management practices and technologies that are applicable to Alberta.” (from Dr. Sweetmans website: http://jonsweetman.com/)
