During 2015 – 2016 the ten most prolific authors available for an interview on six campuses (three each in Canada and South Africa) were questioned about where and why they publish. The most prolific author had 1278 articles (as in Scopus) and 54774 citations (as in WOS) to her credit at the time. The individuals were chosen to represent the sciences, social sciences, humanities and the professions (medicine/law/engineering/management etc.). Topics touched upon during the interviews included metrics/altmetrics, open access, use of institutional repositories, and social media, among others.
