1.5‑Hour Interactive Workshop | A Career Bridge & SGS Collaboration
Many graduate students have career goals, or at least career questions, but feel stuck when it comes to taking action. You may know you want something beyond your current role, but figuring out how to move from planning and exploring to actually engaging in meaningful career opportunities can feel overwhelming.
This interactive workshop is designed to help graduate students bridge the gap between career thinking and career doing. Through hands-on activities and practical strategies, you’ll learn how to identify opportunities that align with your interests, values, and skills and how to take realistic, manageable steps toward them while still balancing academic responsibilities.
Rather than encouraging a one‑size‑fits‑all career path, this session focuses on helping you make intentional choices and engage in experiences that support your long‑term goals, whether those are academic, industry‑focused or still evolving.
In this workshop, you will:
- Clarify what “meaningful” career engagement looks like for you at your current stage
- Identify career‑building opportunities such as internships, experiential learning, networking and skill‑building roles
- Learn how to move from career planning to concrete, actionable steps
- Develop strategies for evaluating opportunities before committing time and energy
- Gain tools for engaging in career exploration without derailing your academic progress
This workshop is ideal for master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral scholars who are exploring career options and want support turning curiosity into action. Led by Career Bridge Career Coach, Andres Banda Penafiel, the session includes relatable examples, guided activities and time for questions, so you leave with a clearer sense of direction and next steps you can realistically take.
