Visiting Artist Pamela Boyd (actor, playwright, and Artistic Director of the professional company Momo Mixed Ability Dance Theatre in Calgary (2003-2013)) will be speaking about her work in room W401, Wednesday Oct. 3 at 3PM, to the Drama3150 class, Dance and Theatre for Social Change.
All are welcome to attend.
Ms. Boyd will also give a public talk in 2015 as part of her involvement with "Inclusion", the drama department's fourth production for the 2014-15 season.
A professional theatre artist for nearly fifty years Pamela is a performer, teacher and writer, as well as a certified yoga instructor. An award winning playwright she's best known for her realistic plays; INSIDE OUT, ODD FISH, (first produced for ATP's PlayRites 92) and I LOVE MONDAYS. Her more recent work is exploratory and multi-disciplinary, combining movement, sound, poetry and dramatic text. In 1998 Pamela began working with adults with disabilities and quickly become involved with disability arts. After many years teaching improvisational drama and movement and drawing from a wide range of influences and disciplines, her work flowed very naturally into the exciting field of integrated arts performance. Pamela founded Calgary’s MoMo Mixed Ability Dance Theatre in 2003 bringing the professional arts community and the disability communities together to make art. After ten years at MoMo’s helm she has now returned to a freelance career, still passionately committed to inclusive arts and fostering vibrant, sophisticated, integrated arts community in Western Canada. She is thrilled to have been invited to contribute to The University of Lethbridge’s bold venture into inclusive arts education.
