After three years of research, construction and creation, Mootookakio’ssin, a collaborative project led by Blackfoot elders with researchers from the University of Lethbridge and the UK, artists, and British museums, is coming to fruition with the launch of the digital object microsite.
The Mootookakio’ssin website launch will be held on Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m in the Science Commons Atrium. This is a drop-in demonstration with no formal program. COVID-19 protocols are in effect.
Mootookakio'ssin (distant awareness) aims to virtually reconnect Blackfoot items in museums with Blackfoot people, to assist in the process of knowledge renewal, and to build bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
