This session intends to familiarize you with the current state of Open Educational Resources (OER) in Canada and the international scene. Besides introducing you to the most recent scientific findings on OER adoption, you will also gain an insight into some major repositories and directory sites that assemble freely accessible resources for a broad range of academic subjects. There will be a showcase of peer-reviewed OER textbooks in print as well as digital formats, which have been frequently adopted for their high-quality and easily modifiable functions.
Some elements of the brown bag session can be hands on, if you bring a mobile device that connects you to the internet. There are also desktop computers available for use in L950.
