Les enfants qui parlent aux enfants:  Listening to children's voices in response to Canadian picture books

Dr. Heather Phipps is Assistant Professor of Minority Language Education (French immersion and francophone) in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. She recently completed her PhD in Educational Studies at McGill University. Her dissertation titled Children speaking with Children: Visualizing engagement through contemporary Canadian
picture books in French classrooms
 is a qualitative study exploring the role of story in linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms in Montréal. Her research interests include language and literacy pedagogy, children's literature, imagination, place, Indigenous education, peace,social justice and childhood. This presentation will focus on the responses of young children and teachers reading contemporary Canadian children's literature.
