
Elders from the Indigenous community are on campus each week to share knowledge and traditional practices, to offer guidance and support, for story telling, cultural teaching and spiritual mentoring. Indigenous Elder support is available to any University of Lethbridge student, staff or faculty from any culture.

In respect to the Spiritual Blackfoot Elder/Grandfather (Aa' wah ' staaksa – Kaahsinnoon)
Women must wear proper clothing; no miniskirts, short dresses, shorts or low-cut blouses or tops. A woman’s legs must be covered. This is part of the respect for the Blackfoot woman. Women can wear long pants. Men also must not wear shorts, t-shirts, and/or sleeveless shirts. For women, please use the blankets, shawls, and scarfs available prior to participating or being near the smudge.
