KEYNOTE: PROFESSOR DR ANDREW SCHLOSS - UVIC & DR ROBERT VAN ROOYEN, PRESIDENT, SUMMIT SCIENTIFIC INC.
This symposium features research presentations from students in the Digital Audio Arts program, and from students in the Music Department’s Studio and Postgraduate programs. Its broad theme is Exploring Sound in all of its facets. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Dr Andrew Schloss from the School of Music, University of Victoria. Together with his colleague and business partner, Dr Robert Van Rooyen, he will demonstrate two new musical instruments, the SDRdrum and the MechDrum™, as well as covering the history and design of unique complementary instruments. This symposium will offer a great chance to discuss the constantly evolving relationship between music, musical instruments, and the use of technology.
