Join us for an evening of international food, and experience the energy of Global Drums!  This powerful ensemble of percussionists, comprised of both community and student members, presents the world to its audiences in the form of Brazilian samba, steel band, taiko, African, Chinese, and chamber percussion styles.  Under the direction of Adam Mason, this ensemble has thundered across stages throughout Southern Alberta and around the world.

Toby Bol, originally from South Sudan, came to Canada from Egypt in 2004 with his five siblings and his parents.  He raps about Sudanese youth coming through countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Egypt to Canada.  Bol, a current Digital Audio Arts major and a member of the Global Drums, will provide a glimpse of the struggle with drugs, gangs and violence within the immigrant community, and how he chose music to express himself.
