October 25, 2005 — Koblenz - Rüdesheim

We left Cologne before dawn and later in the morning arrived in Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. We enjoyed a walking tour of this historic hub of trade then continued to Rudesheim through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, a beautiful stretch of the river. We saw the legendary Lorelei Rock, where a mythical siren lured sailors to their doom on the reefs below.

Our continuing enjoyment of castles was interrupted with the inevitable life jacket procedure but we were soon back to observing the landscape.

Arriving in Rudesheim in the afternoon we enjoyed a model train ride on our way to a guided tour of the fascinating Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum.

Of course we visited a few shops before returning to where the ship was docked for the night in Rudesheim.
