12 noon. The Mayor of Brighton (Alderman S. E. Hay) and the Mayor of Hove (Councillor A. E. Brocke) extended an official welcome to the entire Canadian party on the Pavilion Lawns.
Also known as the ’Royal Pavilion’, Brighton Pavilion was built in 1784 and purchased in the early nineteenth century for the Prince Regent. Between 1815 and 1821 the Pavilion was rebuilt under the direction of the architect John Nash who employed a mixture of classical and Indian styles which have been labelled ’Hindoo-Gothic’.
6.30 p.m. All members attended a Community Service in THE DOME, conducted by the Rev. F. Pratt Green. The singing was be led by the Bishop Strachan School Choir which provided an introductory programme of music from 6.30 — 7.00 p.m.
The Dome

Originally built as stables for the Prince of Wales in 1805, it was converted into a concert hall in 1867 and modernised in 1935. The Dome's 1935 Art Deco interior has been restored and revitalised to offer an 1800 seat auditorium.
