8.30 a.m. Left Chigwell by special coaches for Canterbury.

12 noon. Lunch at the County Hotel, where a welcome to Kent was given by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of the County, The Right Hon. Lord Harris, M.C., J.P., D.L. Guests at Lunch and Tea included Lord and Lady Harris, Lord and Lady Hardinge, Archdeacon Bickersteth, Mr. J. B. Bickersteth, M.C., Canon C. Bailey and Miss L. Brake, O.B.E., J.P.

After lunch three groups were formed to see CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL under the direction of Mr. J. B. Bickersteth, Archdeacon Julian Bickersteth and Canon C. Bailey.


3.30 p.m. All groups attended Evensong in the Cathedral, conducted by the Sub-Dean, the Ven. Archdeacon Julian Bickersteth.

4.30 p.m. Recital in the Cathedral by the Bishop Strachan School Choir.
Following tea in the County Hotel, we proceeded to HOVE where we were accommodated at Langfords Hotel, Third Avenue, Hove, 3.

It's still there.


The Mayors of Brighton and Hove extended us the "Freedom" of their respective towns which, among other privileges, provided for the free use of Corporation chairs on the sea front, the Bowling and Putting Greens, admission to the Band Enclosure, bathing and other facilities at the King Alfred.
