| June 7, 2008 — Sapporo, Japan
After a relaxing morning we walked over to Hokkai High School where we met Mr. Ohmi. He took us for the sushi bar experience. This was followed by a trip to two massive stores --100 Yen (we call them Dollar stores) and Cowboys. Next it was off to Matsutakeya's where we enjoyed good fellowship and fine, authentic Chinese food (not the North American variety). Mrs. Matsutakeya's parents where Christian missionaries in Manchuko now part of China. Mr. Ohmi drove us home and like everyone else presented "The Great Lady" with gifts. Fourteen years ago Joan was the first female exchange teacher at the high school. At that time it was an all boys school but is now coed with many women teachers. |
