Sapporo Greetings Next Day

Previous Day

June 1 & 2, 2008 — Seattle to Sapporo, Japan

Arriving again at the Seattle airport we were met with an unhappy computer when it discovered we were taking a one-way trip. Hey, we might be suicide bombers with no plans for coming back. As a result we were shuffled to a special area for a more stringent screening — always an adventure.

The remaining journey was uneventful other than a suspicious encounter with a pickpocket at the Seattle airport. Fortunately my wallet and camera were deeply embedded in my jeans' pocket.

Following another long wait at the Tokyo airport — the joys of flying— we arrived in Supporo to a grand welcome from our longtime friends Mr. & Mrs. Matsutakeya, Mr. Mori and Mr. Sakurai. We were soon whisked off to the city where we were greeted by Mr. Kikuchi and Mr. Hyashi at the Hokkaigakuen apartment that had been most generously outfitted for our stay.
